UNTAPPED

Crafting a Bold Brand for Spencer Matthews

Client: High Performance

Industry: Podcast Branding

Role: Digital Designer

Brief: Untapped, led by Spencer Matthews and Jake Quickenden, is a high-energy podcast focused on performance, training, and mindset. The challenge was to create a bold, masculine, and aspirational brand identity that reflected discipline, drive, and growth while being timeless and scalable across digital platforms.

The Approach

Working closely with Giacomo Palmiero (Head of Marketing, High Performance) and Spencer Matthews, I developed a high-impact, performance-driven identity that balanced strength and aspiration. The design incorporated:

Bold, all-caps typography for a strong, energetic feel. Motion blur effects symbolising movement, momentum, and growth.

A refined colour palette inspired by Spencer’s endurance challenges—red sand, deep blues, and warm neutrals.

The brand needed to feel premium yet relatable, appealing to Spencer’s audience while reinforcing the podcast’s mission of pushing limits.

The Execution

Logo & Typography: A bold, all-caps wordmark with custom typographic treatments to reflect action and drive.

Podcast Cover & Branding: A high-impact composition featuring Spencer and Jake, designed for maximum recognition across platforms.

Pitch Deck & Marketing Assets: A visually compelling deck for sponsorship outreach, plus social media templates and branding guidelines for consistent future content.

The Impact

14.4K Instagram followers at launch.

High-profile guests including Sir Mo Farah, Alex Honnold, and Dave Asprey.

A cohesive, scalable brand identity that ensures consistency across social media, podcast artwork, and marketing materials.

Untapped now stands as a bold, high-energy brand that reflects relentless self-improvement and peak performance, aligning seamlessly with Spencer’s personal mission and audience.
